What is Tarot?

Tarot cards have been used for divination since the 18th century; however, their origin goes back to a 15th century European card game. The Tarot deck as we know it today is comprised of 78 cards: 22 major arcana, which reveal the greater secrets of life, and 56 minor arcana, which reveal the ‘lesser’, more everyday secrets. A querent seeks answers from the cards. A cartomancer reads them.

Some readers use spreads—certain layouts of cards structured to approach specific questions. Some readers will pull cards in no particular order. Some readers do both.

The 3 Cups believe in giving a querent agency over their own lives. No future is written in stone! Maybe you’ll see in the cards where you are on the path of life, thus providing you with the information needed to move forward productively.
